Gunhwan Jung
 
 

Hawaii-based clarinetist, Gunhwan Jung finished the studies of the doctorate degree
(DMA) and master’s degree (MM) from the Boston University in music performance with
full tuition academic scholarship and dean’s awards and Mr. Jung was offered full
scholarship while he was studying artist diploma (AD) at Hartt School-University of
Hartford in Connecticut.

He started intensive studies of music from Seoul Arts High School and graduated from
Yonsei University for bachelor’s degree in Korea. While he was working as a principal
clarinetist for Korean National Police Symphony, which is a mandatory service for boys in
Korea, he earned a presidential citation. He served for the Calliope, Waltham Symphony,
New England Orchestra, Hwaum Boston Chamber orchestra and Boston Civic Symphony
Orchestra in Boston area and appeared Boston symphony hall as a bass clarinetist. When
he was studying, he got first debut at Carnegie Hall and Alice Tully Hall in Lincoln
center NYC as a soloist, chamber music musician from 2006 to 2015 sponsored by Yonsei
alumni association in New York City.

He made Sold-Out concert as first debut in Hawaii at Hawaii Public Radio Station in
September 2 nd , 2017 and will appear as a solo recital at Lincoln Center, Bruno Walter
Auditorium NYC this year Mr. Jung currently works as a faculty member at Manoa School of
Music and Moku Hawaii
